It’s 9:30 PM and Jake is doing stuff. Awake. Aware.

It’s so weird. He’s speaking clearly, he’s doing things at a normal speed, and he remembers what all the things are that need to be done.

Weird.

This is after one dose of the new medicine. One. He’s not jittery or weirdly energetic either, he’s just like a normal person, only he’s never been like that.

NEVER.

I’ve been with Jake since 1999. Maybe he’d be like this for an hour, but no longer than that.

It’s just so odd for me, because literally every single night I have to either wake him up or check on him to make sure he’s not doing something weird or prod him to finish something he needs to do for work that day at least once every ten minutes. I’m not kidding. And he would remember nothing. I had to remember everything. I think this may be a bigger adjustment for me than it will be for him, and that’s something I hadn’t considered.

I don’t want a bunch of blue or brown onesies. Why do baby clothes have to be so generic...

My husband has officially been diagnosed with Narcolepsy. We’ve suspected it for years (like always), but never done anything about it since we weren’t sure if it would mean things like giving up his driver’s license (no it doesn’t).

Sort of a weird state of relief knowing what you’ve always thought is true.
